The internet today already comes with many headaches and problems that without the internet, we wouldn't have to deal with; but the good that the internet creates, I believe, far outweighs the bad. I don't think anybody would argue that we should get rid of the internet because we are able to work through the negative issues in order to fully utilize it.
In reguards to cyberbullying, it is just like any other problem we've had. There was fraud before cyberfraud, identity theft before cyber-identity theft, and there was bullying before there was cyberbullying. Although the internet of things may come with some negative issues, we as a society has always figured out how to deal with them, and we will continue to do so. And I for one am excited to see what the future will bring.

Talking a little further on how "The Internet of Things" can harm us would be the disappearance of individual privacy where our whole life info would be at the touch of a button. This might also interfere with cyber-bullying where the bully can be identified before he becomes the oppressor. Just like you mentioned I do believe we will evolve with technology and we will create ways to avoid this kind of issues. I believe cyber-bullying can become a thing of the past in the future of social media.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your views on how we handle the negative effects of the Internet. And I don't know if I'm as thrilled about what the future of the internet holds for us but it is interesting to see where it will go. We have no idea of really knowing what is in store for us in the Internet world but like you said in sure we will be able to handle it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your last paragraph entirely. Without the internet, we would still have the same issues the internet brings, just in different forms. We have and always dealt with it.
ReplyDeleteSociety has always dealt with anything that puts your own life in emotional or life-threatening cases on the internet. As technology progresses and we adapt to it being more personal than ever, the same issues will always be there. Cyber-bullying will always happen and it's a bad cause. It just depends how we are effected and what kind of action we take.
